Hi, I’m the owner Jennifer Pride Collins. I grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and spent many summers on Sebago Lake and Crescent Lake. My Dad was a native Westbrook-er and much of my Dad’s family still resides in Maine. Most all of the photos displayed in the shop are of my family from both Maine and Wisconsin.
Small business has been a part of my family for a long time. In Westbrook, my dad used to deliver groceries to the SD Warren mill owner from his Uncle’s grocery store “Pride Bros Groceries” on Main Street (which is now Casa Novello).
The Prides are descendants of the first settlers on the coast of Maine and Pride’s Corner was named for members of the family who settled there. Dad’s great-grandfather was once the 10th oldest man in Westbrook.
Dwinal had four children, Walter, Frank, Nellie and Isabel. Walter followed in Dwinal’s footsteps and went into the livery stable business, at the Atlantic House and Kirkwood Inn at Prout’s Neck. Frank became a prominent judge in Westbrook.
Over twenty years ago I was privileged to meet and begin working for Kurt Pritchard who owned “Pritchards” on Kensington Antique Row in Maryland. There the bug of collecting took hold. Pritchards was an amazing busy little antique shop. Kurt is now enjoying a well-earned retirement in the state of Arizona.
Since working at Pritchards, I dreamed of opening up my own shop one day…and collected, collected, collected and then collected more. I am now thrilled and honored to take occupation of the former Korner Knitters space. The building itself has a long history in Sebago Lake Village.
In the coming year, we are continuing our renovations and you’ll soon see the beautiful front parlor with its amazing display windows open up. In the meantime, please visit us on weekends in the big red barn.
